After recently announcing that he is attempting a comeback, former Premier League and Australian international goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has commented on England coach Steve McClaren's choice not to include West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green in the side against Croatia. Although many believe (including myself) Robert Green should be given the chance to prove himself as England's #1, Bosnich seems hardly fit to comment, seeing how he recently admitted in an interview that he hasn't watched much soccer over the past 4 years and he is trying to get a contract. According to Hammered, speaking of the English goalkeeping situation Bosnich said:
"They are three very good goalkeepers [Robinson, James, Carson] but the one exceptional goalkeeper I've seen this season is Robert Green. His form leading up to this game means he should have been picked for the game against Croatia. Paul Robinson has had a tough time, he doesn't need to be told that."JDJ says: You might think that a guy with a reputation like Mark Bosnich might take it easy and keep his mouth shut while trying to make a comeback at 35 years old. But, no. In his first quote following his comeback announcement Bosnich has successfully shown that he can be as rash as ever. Many may not be aware of his previous comments, but he actually said that he hasn't been watching much soccer. And, despite that fact, his comeback attempt hasn't earned him a contract yet, so his quote about Green has simply shown that he is willing to question a coaches decisions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it wise to question coaching decisions while trying to get a coach to decide on you, especially with a reputation like the one Bosnich has. I think everyone would say that Robert Green deserves the chance to represent England, especially considering the form, or lack thereof, of Paul Robinson and ages of David James (old) and Scott Carson (young), but I don't think Mark Bosnich is in a position to be saying it, and I say that for his own good.
